DTwP Vaccine: A Crucial Step in Protecting Children from Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis

DTwP vaccine ek bhut hi essential immunisation jai jo ki babies ko three dangerous diseases: Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) se protect karti hai. Yeh highly contagious diseases that cause severe illness or even death, especially in infants and young children. This vaccine has been proven to be highly successful in protecting kids against these diseases.

The Importance of the DTwP Vaccine

Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis severe bacterial infections hai jo ki major threat pose karte hai unvaccinated children ko.

  • Diphtheria causes a thick coating in the throat that can lead to breathing difficulties, heart failure, and even death.
  • Tetanus (also known as lockjaw) Leads to painful muscle stiffness and can be fatal if untreated, especially in newborns and elderly people.

DTwP Vaccination Schedule (As Recommended by IAP)

The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) recommends the following vaccination schedule for DTwP:

  • First Dose: At 6 weeks of age.
  • Second Dose: At 10 weeks of age.
  • Third Dose: At 14 weeks of age.
  • Booster Dose: Administered at 16-24 months and again at 4-6 years of age.
